Post code breaking
I know this doesnt pertain to the course, sorry. I just wondered if the military ever experimented with dowsing to break ciphers, like use an alphabet chart and pendulum. I just watched the movie Zodiac and some of the Zodiac killer ciphers are still not broken today. That would be awesome if an experienced dowser could crack ciphers that all the cryptologists in the world could not do. Just an interesting thought to the unlimited potential of this skill. (not me though, i missed the coin under the cup)

That's a very interesting idea. It would be a great application.

Post Jeepers !
hey Crozier,

I think that is a brilliant question, but to be honest that (I think )
would be a hard nut to crack ! really hard.

I think RV would have a better chance with glyphs for example,
or chinese characters. This would give "meanings"

regards

Omega

To my knowledge, this idea never occurred to anyone in the military. I'm always on the look-out for promising new applications of dowsing, though. And this might be one. I'd have to think on it awhile, however, to see how it might be done. I'm open to suggestions! :D

I think that part of the reason the cyphers weren't broken is that they may be just gibberish to throw off the police.

The Zodiac taunted police and gave them tons of false and misleading information.

Since there's no such thing as an unbreakable code, I would think the FBI or the NSA would have cracked them after so long.

The first of the Zodiac's codes that was broken was decoded in a couple of hours by a couple of schoolteachers, I believe.

It could probably be used for code breaking, but it would mean several steps. First identify letters and numbers, then seperate the vowels from the other letters and then it may be possible to identify some consanants (sp?) from vowels simply by frequency. Just a thought.... :)

That assumes a simple substitution cypher, which not all codes are.

This also assumes that the code is in English. If it had to be broken in Klingon, it would be pretty darn hard to break!!! :D

Post Dowsig coded messages
At the subconscious level all information is available to us so to be an effective dowser we need to just stay focused and believe in our response. Decoding messages, to me sounds doable and an interesting challenge. [/img]
